Back to School Dive into learning

                             DIVE INTO LEARNING

Trying to get the kids excited about coming back to school.

I used items I already had and also made a book like item with ocean facts.

I used pieces of velcro to keep the pages up, but the kids could take it and open to the next page.

SOAK UP THE JOY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
LIKE A SPONGE!!

Always looking for new ways to get everybody into the holiday spirit and make them smile!! Spongebob is a favorite of some, so in 2016 did Spongebob characters. My main objective is to get this up before we have the holiday performances so all the families get to enjoy the bulletin board.

Patrick Star and his rock house.
                                                Squidward Tentacles playing his clarinet.

Spongebob Squarepants always happy to celebrate each day!!
                                                          Spongebob's Pineapple house.
                                                                   Gary the snail.

Yes you have to watch what you put on some times and hope the kids don't ruin them. Gary's eye ball is missing after this board. Still haven't taken the time to fix that. But keep this in mind when doing these types of elaborate bulletin boards.

School Reading Month Theme CAMPING!!!

This years theme for school reading month

CAMPING !!!

I always like to use items that help make the bulletin board stand out even more. I have a lot of trees and bushes on my property so incorporating them into the board is an easy thing to do that will help it pop out at you, without having to do a lot of work making them. The Dollar store is were I found some of the items I used for this project. Because as YOU know bulletin boards take a lot of planning, work making the items and putting it all up. Many hours went into making just the people in this scene. So get some ideas from what I have done and make one of your own. Get started for the next school year.

The moon in the back ground is a push light from the dollar store.  I did put batteries in it, but of course with kids turning it on and off all the time it did not last long. I had to use contact cement to put it on the butcher paper and stapled the paper all around so it would not sag from the weight. I love watching Bob Ross and when ever I try to do mountains I think of him and just go for it. One thing he always said on his show was "There are no mistakes, just happy accidents." I like to think of myself as an artist who uses recycled and different materials to create these boards. It's fun and challenging to create from plastics and card board around the house.

The Peanuts characters took the longest. I first went on line to get pictures that I could print out that would work for the camping theme. It really takes a long time to draw them by hand so I cheated a little by getting the images. In doing so I also had to take into account the size I needed them to be for the board.  These guys are made out of felt, pipe cleaners and fabric puff paint.

The marshmellows are made out of hair curlers. I put white paint on them which took a couple days to dry. Also a note on these. Some kids decided to pick apart the marshmellows. Sticks are from my apple tree and glued the marshmellow on the end. Had to measure were the characters were sitting for the lengh, so I put them on my floor with the fire and adjusted at home.

So the fire!! My school has a laminater. The extra clear laminated plastic that you cut off I used for the flames. Permenent marker colors red, orange and yellow I used, after I drew the flames. Then cut them out and what do you know. I think this will be my go-to for flames. Felt rocks with coals and logs made from pipe foam.

Dollar store again! The tent is made out of a shower curtain. Yes you read that right. I cut it in half to make the two tents. The stakes are another different type of hair curlers. I used rope with the stakes. Just some thin stuff from you guessed it the dollar store. So what is the one pole made out of....well that is a long glow in the dark stick  also found at ........ the dollar store. I have some cardboard under the plastic trying to give it some depth. Poof it out a bit.

The same on this side.

Underwater Tropical Ocean Scuba Diver School Bulletin Board

This tropical ocean scene bulletin board was made to inspire reading about the ocean and leading into how pollution of waters effects all wildlife. Eye catching bulletin boards gets the imagination going for even the adults.

I hope this bulletin board has helped inspire you to create amazing boards that get the kids excited to learn. There are so many animals under the ocean that every year could be something very different.

Winter Bulletin Board Charlie Brown Snoopy Peanuts Gang

 Hey everyone!! Happy Holidays!
This is my new creation at my childrens school. Some of the Peanuts gang.
Yes, every time I do a bulletin board I try to step it up.
Take the time to make something that has dimension. If it pops out a little the kiddos and adults tend to notice. Even just using tissue paper. I cut some branches from my yard and spray painted then white, Make sure you have it standing up when you do that so it looks like the snow has fallen on the branches.
All of the characters were drawn on poster board paper. I cut them out, then hot glued material around the characters. To get the puffy look I used some stuffing material.

I used yarn for the girls hair.

I hope this gives you some ideas on what to put on your bulletin board!!!!

FALL BULLETIN BOARD Interactive

My main focus when starting a board is making it some what durable.  You have to remember there are over 300 people each day who will be flipping up flaps and taking the velcro pieces off and on in the morning and when school gets out.

This months bulletin board is educational with a colorful fall feel.

This board is about photosynthesis. It has 9 flip up flaps that blend with the background. (The kids and teachers just love this)

The vines are yarn with pipe cleaner. Some tissue paper leaves and flowers. It is just great to get different textures together on the wall.

For the interactive feature I made 4 velcro pieces that come off the board were I made a display of how photosynthesis works.  There is a pocket at the bottom and when I go in to school I take the pieces down so the kids can place them in the right spots.

I hope this helps your creative mind to do great things with your bulletin boards!

DR SEUSS MARCH READING SCHOOL BULLETIN BOARD

This might have been my first school bulletin board I did.  It is all about learning.

Flip up flaps are the best on a board.  The many hands working and touching things for a whole month means everything you put up should be as durable as possible.

I learned that the pull down pop out is not a good idea. Kids tend to push down on the flap so that it would break the strings.

In the middle of this board I made spinning fish in two cookie containers. The first said One fish, Two fish and the second said Red fish, Blue fish when you twisted the bottom stick. This one lasted longer than the pull down, but people were a little aggressive with it and broke the bottom part of the sticks.  I think it would work well in the classroom but not for the whole school to be admiring everyday.

So just to note what everyone liked most about this one was the hands that I had popping out of the window part of the Lorax. Pipe cleaners, tissue paper, staples and tape to make the hands.
